In an age when most children can’t tell time from a traditional clock and young people don’t own analogue watches, Dick Kiel is of a dying tradition. But at the age of 72, he doggedly plies his trade in Upstate New York, to the stream of people that line up at his store.
He’s one of two people I heard use the term, kinny-garten. The first was a man who’s been my late night date for the past 20 years, David Letterman. It’s probably what was so endearing about Dick, and why I wanted to learn what made him tick.
